Some of our Expedition Leaders will depart our voyage in Cape Town, so we are highlighting their resumes over the next few days so you can see the quality of Enrichment Lectures we have received, and how fun they are as individuals.

George Kennedy Polar Geopolitics

George is an Australian social scientist specializing in polar geopolitics. He has completed a Masters’s in Anthropology at Monash University and a Graduate Diploma in Antarctic Governance at the Australian Institute for Marine and Antarctic Science. Since completing his studies, George has worked within the policy office of the Australian Antarctic Division, collaborating with other Antarctic Treaty Parties on sustainable tourism practices and environmental protection frameworks.

Prior to his studies in political science, George worked as an ALS Paramedic in Australia, as well as a community development coordinator for conservation organizations in Latin America.


George’s passion for the polar regions emerged while working with a local environmental nonprofit in Patagonia. During his time in Tierra del Fuego, he was fortunate enough to visit Antarctica in 2017, inspiring his subsequent academic focus on the region. George has been guiding in Antarctica since 2019, sharing stories of its incredible wildlife and landscapes, as well as, of course, its unique politics!


When not on board or in the office, George can be found traveling the world on his motorcycle. He first embarked on his KLR650 from Mongolia in 2016, riding from across Asia to India, around Australia, and from Argentina to Mexico. He plans to continue riding north to Alaska this summer.

Christoph Bialek Botanist

Christoph was born near Vienna, Austria. He grew up next to the woods and mountains surrounding the city and here he discovered his vocation to become a biologist. His curiosity for wildlife, plants, and interactions among organisms in their environment brought him to the University of Vienna. There Christoph got his Master’s degree in ‘Conservation Biology and Biodiversity Management’ with a focus on Botany. He studied the landscapes and plants of Austria and visited diverse ecosystems around the world.

In addition to his studies, Christoph guided botanical excursions through varied landscapes. In his most recent position, Christoph worked at the Vienna Zoo where he educated visitors on an array of biological topics. His mission there was to transfer his enthusiasm, curiosity, and knowledge of nature to his audiences

JAKUB TRASAK
TONIGHT’S SHOW AT 9:45 PM AT THE SHOW LOUNGE
Jakub Trasak is one of the most talented and versatile violin players and producers of his generation.
He began his performance journey at the age of three and his career includes more than 30 prime television appearances and live shows in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Boston Symphony Hall, and the Kennedy Center.

He grew up in the Czech Republic and he graduated from Prague’s Conservatory as well as Berklee College of Music.


Jakub is famous for keeping audiences emotionally engaged and at the edge of their seats by showcasing authentic and exciting performances across a wide range of musical genres.
Tonight Jakub Trasak performance was “Upbeat Strings”, It was not your ordinary violin concert, but a groovy acoustic and electric violin experience across the genres featuring thrilling fiddle tunes as well as music from Ray Charles and Whitney Houston.
