Fakarava is in French Polynesia in the South Pacific

Fakarava, French Polynesia

Fakarava is an atoll in the west of the Tuamotu group in French Polynesia. It is the second largest of the Tuamotu atolls. The atoll is roughly rectangular around a lagoon. Its rectangular length is 37 miles and is about a quarter of a mile wide. Fakarava has a wide and deep lagoon with a surface of 429 square miles. Fakarava has 837 inhabitants. The main village is called Rotoava.
