Sailing the legendary Drake Passage is an experience that few are ever lucky enough to experience.

The southern tip of the Americas already felt like a wild enough environment, but the sensation of watching the distant cliffs of the peninsular known as the ‘End of the World’ fade into the horizon was one that was equal parts epic, eerie and magical.

The Drake Passage is considered one of the most treacherous voyages for ships to make. Currents at its latitude meet no resistance from any landmass, and waves can top 40 feet, hence its reputation as “the most powerful convergence of seas”. Fortunately, ours were only 17 to 22 feet.

The theme of the Silver Whisper World Cruise was “The Tale of Tales 2022”.

It is an extraordinary north-south world cruise, from 65°S to 65°N, from Antarctica up to Iceland.

We will experience a wide range of cultures, climates, and environments as a tale of magnificently contrasting destinations, from Turkey to South Africa, from South Georgia Island to Seychelles is woven.

During our voyage, we will learn from nine world-renowned special guest lecturers who will share our voyage and spark our imagination with their “Tale of Tales” Storytelling.

We will become the main character in our very own “Tale of Tales”.

NICHOLAS CRANETALE OF TALES – ENDURING EYE:

Nicholas Crane is an English geographer, explorer, writer, broadcaster, past President of Scotland’s Royal Geographical Society, and producer of over 80 BBC geographic films.

He has been exploring the world since 1986 when he located the pole of inaccessibility for the Eurasia landmass and has been traveling to the remote and remarkable ever since!

THE ANTARCTIC LEGACY OF SIR ERNEST SHACKLETON AND FRANK HURLEY

We learned about his life-changing experiences in Antarctica, and the true story of the Shackleton shipwreck. Supported by extraordinary first-hand photography and RGS images.

In 1914 Sir Ernest Shackleton, an established Polar explorer of the heroic age, set out to cross the Antarctic continent. He failed.
However, he achieved one of the greatest feats of polar exploration, he returned with his 28 man team alive. The story of the 1914-17 Shackleton Imperial Endurance Expedition is one of courage and leadership in the face of true adversity. Stoicism and belief during complete uncertainty; by endurance they conquered. An amazing story of survival.

Shimi Goodman and Chris Hamilton met at Guildford School of Acting twenty-one years ago and have been making music ever since.

Together they form the exciting Tenor & Piano duo -Tiano.
These two world-class performers truly put the class into classical as they take the audience on a journey of musical styles from classical to popular. The genre “classical crossover” perfectly describes their style since everything they present from Mario Lanza to Elton John is informed by a highly developed musicianship, which never fails to entertain.

Shimi has performed in West End shows including Evita and Chicago.

In 2017 Chris won the prestigious Silversea Guest Entertainer of the Year Award. He is also an award-winning writer.
